We're willing to help!
This last year in particular we had a huge part in helping the local 4H kids get ready for show. This included teaching them (and their parents, considering most of the kids are in second grade or younger) how to at least trim their goats fur for show (we haven't mastered how to get the close to skin shave yet), trimming their hooves, show practice and how to set up goats. We also did a few lessons on how to properly take care of your goat, for example, what to feed them, how much to feed them, how much exercise they should get daily, what vaccinations they need, how often they need vaccinations and hoof care, as well as how often their children should be working/handling their goats. Thankfully most of the kids (baby goats) were bottle fed, so we didn't have too many socializing issues.
We're happy to offer any sort of demonstration to any 4H families considering goats for their show project, or just as a pet. Passing on knowledge is the only way to teach the younger generation how to do certain things. Please feel free to shoot me an email at [email protected] and I will help you with whatever questions or concerns you may have!
